So this week has been Fashion Week, yaaaay!
I can honestly say I spent Valentines Day doing what I deserve:
sitting front row at the Malan Breton show (goodie bag included).
Of course, I didn't bring my phone or camera to the actual show, so I'll steal this photo from my friend Phil who I ran into working the same show but as a dresser. I was there as an intern
for LaPresse PR and worked a second show with them as well.

Here's an outline of my week: add on 21 credits and I die.
The Malan Breton Show was good, I had a front row seat and enjoyed his collection.
It was full of menswear in bright colors, just goes to show that colorblocking and
bold colors won't be a hit just for girls this season.
The music was a great choice, the models were beautiful but the two girls that walked
seemed inexperienced which is sad because one is from ANTM. Both almost tripped
at a point during their walk, possibly because the dresses
weren't designed well for actual wear?
In all it was a great experience, I'll have to post a link to the collection when it's up
because I forgot my camera+Iphone that day, epic fail. I was
rushing because I woke up late, the usual.
The previous day though, I worked with a FIT alum to release her first collection!
It was exciting to see an up and coming designer try to make it,
the day began with shooting images for the lookbook she plans to send out
as a followup to all the guests on her list.
I do have to confess, I fell in love with the photographer, he was only 25 so that was
pretty good for me! We had a heart to heart; ahhh so adorable.
I'm really digging the"grungy gentleman"look lately
Just enough chaos mixed with that oh so appealing gentleman quality, to die for.
So these are a few photos of the collection, color scheme, photographer, and model:
and of course, just one more of the photographer<3
I may be creepin on him in my blog, but truth is I exercised restraint because I was in
charge of check-in so I could have just looked up his name. If I was a creeper, I'd
be friends with him on facebook by now...so prime example of how I'm not a stalker.
One thing I have noticed about buyers and new collections is that color sells. I feel that
most of the buyers stopped to look at the end of the collection that was filled with
all the bold colors, the other rack filled with olive, brown, and black all faded into
one form. Personally, I love color so my collection would be filled with it, I'm
not saying change your aesthetic if you don't like color, maybe just arrange
it differently?
Another thing I love about working fashion week is all the amazing venues you never get to
see the inside of unless someone's paying $$$$ for you to hangout. I've started a list
to remember for the future, never know when you'll need it in this industry,
knowing things people don't know is a main priority with fashion. And
working smaller venues helps with that. It's amazing to network, converse,
and hear stories from all the amazing people attending these
shows. I'm so lucky FIT has connections I get to take advantage of like this,
FIT is the only fashion school in NYC that is contacted by top industry
officials for volunteers + interns for Fashion Week, so glad I didn't
go to LA. Please, there's no fashion week there!
And nothing can top NY Fashion Week.
