WOO! So I didn't blog the whole time I was home for a 6 week break because, face it...there's nothing in Albany that anyone wants to read on my blog hahahha. But it's really good to be back @ FIT, super busy, super motivated again... also nice to have a semester under my belt. It truly makes all the difference to walk into a new class and recognize people and get smiles+waves on campus. SO NICE!
Welcome (back) to FIT
So second semester is going strong:
Here's what a 21 credit workload looks like...
My classes are as follows:
- Fencing (YAY! but I seriously haven't been able to walk for the past 4 days...)
- Creative Fashion Presentations (You'll hear more about this I love it!)
- Career Planning (at 9am uugh. We have a lot of work to do...wasn't expecting that)
- Clothing + Society (a sociology class about the affect of fashion on society, awesome discussions!)
- Contemporary Retail Management (interesting, already have a group of like 4 of us who talk the most, I love that in college most professors want you to talk! That's definitely my strength hehe)
- Textile Color Fundamentals (spent over $100 on paint alone. so annoying, but lots of color theory stuff which is super important for my field. Our final is basically what I want to do for a living!)
- Short Fiction (cute little old lady, SO much to read ew. Interesting class, lots pretentious people but my best friend @ FIT is in the class with me soooo awesome!)
- Intro to Fashion Marketing (there is a grandma in my classss, ah I love her, she's clearly a wealthy New Yorker who wants to take it for fun. Walks in to class in her fur coat and LV bag, to die for!)
So far I'm staying balanced, Tuesdays are the worst days.
I go from 9am - 9pm in school...and I haven't figured out how to eat yet.
Sorry mom, I know you'll probably read this but Tuesdays first meal is
usually around 9pm, don't worry I'm looking for fast snacks to pack at least!
I've decided to stay at FIT all four years, wow revelation!
But seriously, I was still considering going out to LA and even though I
still feel the pull...FIT has what's best for me. When I graduate next
May with my associates in Fashion Merchandising Management,
I'm going to reapply for Fabric Styling which is only available in the
bachelors level. It's a program unique to only FIT, there's no where else to take
anything like it so I think FIT and I will stay close for a few more years. :)

I also decided that I want to go into the field of Trend/Color Forecasting.
Now most people (even fashion kids) are like...."uhhhh, what's that?"
Lemme fill ya in....
Basically its a lot of research and travel to find the next trends.
It has a lot to do with economy, why people do what they do,
and predicting what the consumer is going to be looking for a few years
in advance. We travel all over pick up trends and colors and eventually put
it all into thousand dollar books and sell to ad agencies, car companies,
fashion designers, home furnishings, architects and a lot of different things.
I want to specialize in the books for fashion or color...
TA DA; now you understand.
And that's a wrap...I'll just leave you a photo of a beautiful day on my street:
